Control or Delete Post Revisions in WordPress Blog
WordPress automatically saves your posts as revisions as we type. These post revisions helps to recover posts in case of a browser crash, or internal crash. In such situations, we can easily restore the saved version of the post. But, these post revisions will use an extra space in your database. You can however disable or delete these post revisions (multiple versions of every single post). Just follow the below steps and choose the option based on your requirement.
Option1: To complete stop post revisions, you need to add the following code to your WordPress wp-config.php file
Option2: But, if you want to keep those post revisions and at the same time reduce the burden on your server, then you can optimize the code thus letting it to save only the latest 3 post revisions of any article which saves more space.
To do so, add the following code instead of the above in your wp-config.php file.
define( ‘AUTOSAVE_INTERVAL’, 100);
Replace the above numbers in red with whatever count you required.
Finally, if you’re not satisfied with the above two methods, you can simply delete all the post revisions with one click.
Option3: Delete Post Revisions using WordPress Plugin
I suggest the 2nd method as it will save both your server space and also comes handy in situations like browser/wp crash.
